Book Review: Conversations With Friends-Sally Rooney

I couldn't write a review for this book once I've finished it for I struggled on what to write or how many stars should I give it. 3 stars or 4 stars. I settles on 4 stars.

I really enjoyed reading this book for it expressed so many human feelings and went deep inside the mind of those who are troubled and don't know what they want in their lives or how they can express their feelings or needs.

The story is told from the point of view of Frances, the main character. So we only know how she thinks and how she tells what happens with the other characters.

The story itself started with a shocking event. Bobbi & Frances meet Melissa for the first time and she immediately invites them to her house and they stay the night there. They also meet her husband who is a famous actor. It was weird of Melissa to let strangers stay at her house from the first meeting and we also get the feeling from Frances' narration that he doesn't care who comes and who stays in his house with his wife.

After few meetings, the 4 of them become friends but Bobbi hooks up with Melissa and Frances with Nick. Frances has an affair with Nick who is married to Melissa but through out the story, we find out why Nick opened up to Frances, he starts talking to her about his life, what happened to him and why he feels comfortable being with her and talking to her.

Through the conversations with friends, we find out that the story explores many issues and feelings such as; self harm, suicidal thoughts, sadism, sex, homophobia and other social matters.

My only problem with this book is the ending, and I kept asking myself "Why we human like the people or the things that bring us agony and pain?" but the ending was very realistic even though I didn't expect it or probably like it.

Book Review: A Court of Thorns & Roses-Sarah J Maas

I honestly don't know from where to start with this book. I'm overwhelmed. There are so many feelings going on inside my heart and my mind can't stop to think about it. About all the events that happened inside this book. About all the characters that I fell in love with and those that I wanted to split their heads.

*sigh*

"It was part pf Tamlin's curse."

"She is the sickness in these lands."

"She took his eye as punishment. Carved it out with her own fingernail, then scarred his face. She sent him back so bloody that .... The High Lord vomited when he saw his friend."

And so many quotes that affected me so deeply.

Feyre is a human girl who is trying her best to feed her family, to prevent them from dying from poverty. A promise that she made and is willing anything to do to keep it, even if it meant killing a Fae. Then, his friend seeks his killer and gives Feyre a choice of dying by his claws or living with him, in the lands of Faeries for the rest of her life.

Feyre decides to go and live with the High Fae, with Tamlin, and there she meets his friend Lucien. And the three form a bond. A bond that I loved and was able to connect to. And there, Feyre learns many things about The Seven Courts, what's going on in them, who is destroying their lands and who is taking their magic. Which blight has stricken them?!

Now, let's talk about the characters. Which on is my favourite? I really can't seem to decide. It's very difficult to pick one but I can say that I felt somehow close to Lucien. Even though I hated him at first, I became attached to his character and wanted to learn more about him, the more I knew, the more my heart ached for what he had endured that made him like this, so cruel.

Rhysand is also a favourite. He's such bastard, with all his bargains and threats. But we learn that there is more to that act he's putting infront of all The High Lords and infront of HER.

I will not talk more about this book for I don't want to ruin it for those who wants to read it. Even if you're not planning to, YOU HAVE TO.

This book shattered me to pieces and the at the very end, it managed to leave me in awe.

Book Review: Dark Matter-Blake Crouch

Imagine waking up one day, and finding out that your world isn't your world. Your life isn't your life anymore ... Someone has stolen your life, the one you had built for many years and feeling satisfied with.

What would you do? How would you feel? What are the measures you're willing to take to get your life back?

This book has caught me by surprise. It's a mix of sic-fi and psychological thriller. A very complicated mix to comprehend at first but the writing style will not fail you, it will keep you going till the very end of the book, till you can grasp what's going on in the story.

Brilliantly written!

Meet Jason Dessen, a university professor, married to the love of his life Daniella and has one son who is 14 years old called Charlie. One day, someone abducts him, inject something in his arm, and then he finds himself awake strapped to a gurney with strangers surrounding him. In this place, he's a well known scientist who has won a prestigious award but living alone without a wife or son!

Which life is the real one? Is this for real to begin with?

This book explore more than unrealistic scientific theories. It explores the human will and desire. What you can have and what you can get! Will you say "enough" or will you want more? You can never have it all.

"We all live day to day completely oblivious to the fact that we're a part of a much larger and stranger reality than we can possibly imagine".
