Book Review: The Ice Twins-S.K. Tremayne

This book started fast but then it slowed down a bit and became somehow boring. After that it became full of suspense and mystery. Who actually died on that night? Was Kristie or Lydia? Why did she die? Was she killed? So many questions you will be able to find answers for them but some will be left un-answered and you have to think/find the answer between the lines.

I love such kinds of stories. Even though it was somehow predictable, but not all the events. Some actually shocked me and I didn't expect them to happen.

The mother's character was somehow shallow, I didn't like her at all, and hated her at the end of the story. The father's character was so adorable but I don't know if he was naive or forgiving? Or are these two characteristics the same? I loved him. And I think his wife didn't deserve him, he was too good for her.

Book Review: The Forgetting-Sharon Cameron

"They all know it's coming, you see, like knowing you're about to die"

Imagine forgetting your whole life ... Forgetting the things you loved and hated ... Forgetting your family, your friends, and your loved ones ... Forgetting what you liked doing the most and what was your job ... Forgetting everything!!!

The Forgetting tackles many issues in ur society ... If you look deep in it, you'll find that it discusses some political issues in our life ... How some or many governments let their people live in the not-knowing so they can control them and control the place they live in.

The story develops a little bit slow ... At first it grabs your attention ,,, then it slows down and after that you'll find yourself engaged in the story and can't put the book down until you're done with it.

Nadia has never ever forgotten, and she knows what's happening. With the help of the Glassblower's son Gray, they'll try their best to save their memories for they're made of them.

I loved Nadia's character along with Gray's *so adorable*. Janis was so evil, hated her but she played the role just fine. The other characters were okay.

It was a good read <3

Book Review: Fatal Frost-Nancy Mehl

Disclaimer: I've received this book from the publisher for an honest opinion.

This book started really good, and I was happy with what I was reading, the character building was good, the plot was to my taste, the whole action thing was good until I came to the middle of the book where it started taking a religious turn and the whole point of the story became believing in God and religious actions, words and statements. Even the characters became religious :/

I mean, if I wanted to be religious I'd choose a non-fiction (religious) book, but not an action/thriller book. This wasn't what I expected and it certainly is not my taste.

Book Review: Stalking Jack The Ripper-Kerri Maniscalco

"The dead speak to those who listen. Be quieter than even them"

Am I allowed to give this book more than 5 stars? It definitely deserve 5 stars and more.

This book was beyond amazing. What can I say? A combination of Historical fiction, twisted retelling, science vs. religion, women in society, and more. Kerri Maniscalco succeeded in addressing so many issues of the past and the present without making you feel bored at all.

"Personally, I didn't think the dead would mind waiting five minutes to be cut open and explored"

Jack The Ripper has always fascinated so many people out there and I am one of them. I've read multiple books and seen many movies and I'm still intrigued how he hasn't been caught or at least known to the society or people around him.

Stalking Jack The Ripper takes a different turn than the usual story we've known before. It has prostitutes being killed and disfigured in the novel but the reason behind those killings is totally different. You can say this is a retelling of the famous criminal that terrorised the people of London long time ago, but it is used to address many different issues.

"I was a decent girl, even if I spent my spare time reading about science theories and dissecting the dead"

The language and words used in this book were beyond fabulous. The detailed descriptions of murders and anatomy of the dead bodies kept me on the edge. As if I was seeing everything in front of me. I didn't feel bored at all through out the whole story and I was determined to finish it in one day but I failed to do that because I got busy with work and family. Anyhow, I managed to finish it in 2 days *woot woot*

I LOVED the characters ALOT. What can I say? I felt so attached to Audrey Rose that I almost thought I was her in the book *crazy*. She is such a powerful character who was willing to do what she admired and loved even if it meant ruining her reputation in society and failing to be betrothed to someone who has a high rank in society. I loved how she didn't waste her time on silly society matters and focused on science which she admired.

I fell in loved with Thomas Cresswell's character, he was such a gentleman, and not in many situations. But I loved him anyways. He had this charm in the words that he has spoken in the book that made swoon. If he was a real man I'd definitely fall in love with his charm and kindness. I loved how he cared for Audrey Rose and spoke his mind no matter what. I also loved how he didn't care about what the society would think of her practicing science and helped her with her fascination.

The whole novel was built on great characters.

"Science never abandoned me the way religion had that night"

"Each time my blade met with flesh, I sinned more and welcomed it"

This book tackled the issue of science vs. religion as I mentioned earlier, and I liked how it didn't make these two major aspects of our lives clash in the book. The ending explained that and I bow to Kerri Maniscalco for ending the matter in a brilliant way that wouldn't hurt the feelings of either religious people or scientists.

Book Review: Furthermore-Tahera Mafi

I enjoyed reading this book ... It made me feel like I was a child around 8 or 10 years old living in a magical world. The writing style of Tahera Mafi was so smooth and easy for the eyes, you won't struggle while reading this book, and even though it's categorised under "Middle Grade", I feel like it suits everyone. I'm 33 years old and I've enjoyed reading it. I can't wait for my girl to be older to read this book.

The story is about Alice who was born colourless in a world full of colour and magic. Even her talent is worth nothing to her and to others because she wasn't excited enough about it to show them. Alic has lost her father 3 years ago and now she has the opportunity to go to Furthermore, a very scary world to find her father with a boy named Oliver who she doesn't like at all.

Furthermore has a lot of morals and lessons for the young readers to learn from, such as; respecting time, believing in yourself, loving yourself no matter what, respecting others and admiring them for what they are and not what they have, loving your family, and many more. I believe this book would be a great teaching material if taught in schools.

I also loved the narrators voice/tone when addressing the reader, so cute and so sweet, as if he/she is talking to a very young child, and that's what made me feel young. Also loved the stops in the story and talking about other stuff and then going back to the story. The chapters were divided in a cute way. Loved everything about this book, but at the end I felt a bit bored for it might have been stretched a bit, but all in all, this was a great read.

Book Review: The Widow-Fiona Barton

This book didn't fulfil my expectations. I thought it was going to be full of suspense and thriller but it turned out to be the opposite. The pace of the story was really slow and it lacked the action. It could have been there if the story has been told in a different way or if the author dug more into the characters and let us see what was going on inside their heads. That happened for a bit at the end of the story which didn't do much.

The story is good but the writing wasn't. The characters were shallow and so annoying, really I hated both Glen and Jean. Both were so needy and naive, especially the wife. I don't know if there are such women out there nowadays. The husband looked like he had some problems from the beginning but the author didn't invest her time to expand or show more of those problems. I believe the story was lost being told from so many points of view.

Book Review: Empire of Storms-Sarah J Maas

A whole book without the presence of Chaol </3

Nooooo ... Why Miss Maas why? I honestly couldn't enjoy this book that much without him. Even though this book stirred a lot of feelings in me, and I liked all the events, characters, relationships and power of the plot, still not a single page about Chaol or anything related to his recovery made me angry. I know he'll play a great role in the last book in saving the promised queen, in facing Erawan and Maeve, but still. I LOVE HIM <3

Now, let's talk about this book. I loved everything in it. The characters became really awesome. Getting to know them more and more. To know about their characteristics, to feel what they are feeling, to get inside their heads. It was amazing.

I loved how Dorian was paired with someone I couldn't imagine would be suitable for him. Aideon and Lysandra, for a reason I saw it coming but still I loved them together and the relationship between Aelin and Rowan; at first I didn't like them together, but now I'm in awe, they are so beautiful and passionate. The perfect couple. How he loves her and what he's willing to do to save her life, is just amazing.

We get to know more about Elide and Lorcan. Both broke my heart. One can barely sympathise with Lorcan, but after you know what he has been through, you'll understand. Also Elide showed great girl power for all the pain, sorrow she has been through, still she managed to reach her girl.

I can't wait till next year to see how this book will end!

Some quotes I loved:

"I find pleasure in both depending on my mood and the person."

"But Aelin and Manon pressed their joined hands to the speckled glass."

"Death, cruel and cunning, waited in the gold-flecked onyx stare."

Book Review: Thirteens Reasons Why-Jay Asher

This book was good in so many ways. The narrating, the writing style, the words used to describe situations and feeling. But ,,,,, Thirteens Reasons Why weren't that reasonable for someone to commit suicide and decide to kill him/herself.

I tried to get inside the head of Hannah, to feel what she's feeling, to understand what she's going through. But being added on a list in high school, having bad reputation, witnessing rape and not calling the police for a broken sign that caused an accident which lead to someone's dying, Don't actually make you kill themselves. She could have asked to someone's help, she could have talked to someone, anyone. She had Mr. Porter, why hasn't she told him about everything that was going on in her head?! Doesn't make sense.

Maybe I'm not a teenager anymore to understand what young people go through in that specific age, but I was one before and I can relate to few things. Yes, I've thought about suicide so many times when I was 15 years old but I've never been able to do it. We are talking about a soul here.

I wish the writer had chosen better reasons for why Hannah committed suicide.

Book Review: Shadow of The Storm-Connilyn Cossette

I received a copy of this book from BethanyHouse in exchange for an honest review.

Shadow of The Storm follows the story of Shira, the Hebrew slave that we have been introduced to as a secondary character in Counted with The Stars (Book 1). She is the one who helped Kiya when she came to be a slave in the household Shira was working in.

After escaping Egypt, Shira goes in a journey to find herself and to gather the pieces of her soul and mind that were broken and shattered in the past. To gain herself esteem back after what she has been through in the past.

In this book, I found Shira's character very vulnerable, weak and very low in self esteem, not like the one we've met in Counted with The Stars. Maybe because in this book she was facing something more personal? But I loved how he character developed at the end and how she became so forgiving no matter what so she can live in peace and let others have peace. Because everyone who is bitter, must have gone through something in his/her life that made them like this.

Ayla's character was somehow frustrating at the beginning but then I came to like him, he's such a sweetheart, and a loving husband and father. I felt betrayed as much as Shira at first, but then I understood his situation.

We meet Dvorah, a very bitter widow who is left with a little boy and seeking revenge. And also trying to run from someone who is evil. Her brother in law who is making her do things she doesn't want but she has to. For the sake of her child. She tries many evil things to escape from him, but she fails. Will we see her in book 3? Maybe. I want to know what will happen to her after that fire incident.

Now, the spiritual part of the whole series has eased a bit in this book, I didn't find that much of Mosheh's mention or Yahweh. They were mentioned but not as much as what we've seen in Book 1. Which I think was a win for this book, because it focused more on the characters and their development and on the story itself.

Can't wait for book 3.

Book Review: Counted with The Stars-Connilyn Cossette

This is my first biblical fiction read and it won't be the last. I never thought I'd love a book based on religion and such things but I loved the story from its angles.

The book is about a spiritual journey for Kiya the Egyptian slave who has been sold by her father to his friend because of the debt he couldn't pay. She goes to live with her master and mistress who treats her very badly, and comes to be friend with the Hebrew slave Shira, who will guide her and help her in their journey. Their spiritual journey starts after they flee Egypt away from Pharaoh's rage and bloodlust and in their journey they come to know more about the Hebrew messenger Mosheh (Moses) and what he can offer from their God, the one and only. In this journey, Kiya will learn how to love and how to forgive, how to grieve and how to enjoy passion. She'll come to know a new God, who is faceless and hard to believe in but will she find her way to him? Through Shira's brother Eben, she'll come to know and learn about many things.

The characters were amazing, the depth, the agony, the dear, the love and everything they've felt, would get inside your head. Loved Kiya, Eben and Shira's characters, so beautifully written and developed, also her mother's, it was so beautifully written. The story was so easy to read and enjoy. The flow of words were like music, easy for the eyes and mind.

I loved this book a lot, and can't wait to start reading book 2.

Book Review: Voyager-Diana Gabaldon

"A tremor ran down the muscular through as he swallowed, but still he didn't say anything"

Claire goes back to Jaime and meets him after 20 years of separation. Is he still the same Jaime she loved or has he changed? Is he still her husband or someone else's? Does he have other children? How did he manage to live his life without Claire?

So many questions and more are answered in the third book Voyager which I enjoyed a lot but I guess at the end it became a bit boring. It has been stretched a lot but still, you can never get bore of Claire and Jaime. Their adventures, the way they love and fight is so amazing.

A great series indeed and I can't wait to read book 4 next month.

Book Review: Queen of Shadows-Sarah J Maas

"Let's rattle the stars"

I honestly can't think that this series can get any better. OMG!!! This book broke my heart and shattered it to pieces ... I'm so overwhelmed with so many feelings that are still flowing inside me.

This book started with powerful action and events. I loved how it started, it got me hooked from the beginning. And how Celaena now is being called Aelin meets Chaol for the first time after their heartbreaking farewell, but now each one of them is holding a grudge towards the other. I hated how their relations ship came out to be so hateful and always arguing or fighting. I hated that she's no longer with Chaol, and that she has found love with another man.

As the story moves, I find myself finding peace with the reality of their relationship. I came to understand that they are not good/fit together, that they are better as friends and not lovers. You become satisfied with that fact. But Chaol is still my favourite. I don't hate Rowan but Chaol wins.

I loved how Chaol is faithful till the end to Dorian. How he'd do anything to save his soul, to free him from the darkness, and to get him away from his evil father. I loved how he'd risk his own life just to save what's left of Dorian, always believing that there's still something worth saving.

I loved how the story had developed its plot and characters. Developing the new characters that we've met in the previous book and letting them become involved in the storyline.

This book was perfect in so many ways. Loved it <3

Book Review: Heir of Fire-Sarah J Maas

I didn't like how this book turned out to be.

Many characters have been introduced but with no certain reason or purpose. Rowan, Manon, Maeve, and more. The only one that I felt was useful for the story was Aedion, who has a great role to play in the story along with Chaol and Dorian. Chao also have done a lot in this book which I liked somehow, Dorian was somehow shadowed by his own powers, not knowing what or how deal with it but at the end he becomes aware of how he can use his magic to his own good, to save his kingdom.

Now, let's talk of Celaena & Rowan. First, am I the only one who didn't like Rowan? I really didn't like his existence in the story or in Celaena's life. And his character didn't intrigue me at all, not like Chaol who didn't have an encounter or meeting with Celaena or Aelin, whyyyy? Also there was more training for Celaena but now it's about how to shift and how to embrace herself as Fae. It was boring.

I really hope the 4th book will be much better than this one.

Book Review: The Roanoke Girls-Amy Engel

"He was a destiny it was possible to run from, but one I would never escape"

I was given a copy of this book from Penguin Random House (Crown Publishing) in exchange for a honest review.

I loved this book a lot, it was shocking in so many ways and mind opening to many things surrounding us that we can't see or we let ourselves not to see or acknowledge. This book will make great sales I'm sure, and it may be a movie oneway, that I really hope to see and probably one the actors will get to win an Oscar. Yup, that's how good this book is and how much I loved it.

Can you really run away from your past? The above quote interprets many definitions and realities of the main character Lane Roanoke. After you finish reading the book, you'll come to that quote and have a deep thinking about it. How cannot she escape her destiny with him yet the ending is the opposite. I don't want to talk about this in details for I don't want to have any spoilers in my review.

Let's talk about the story. The Roanoke Girls share the same destiny, either they run away or they end up dead.

Lane Roanoke, comes back to live with her grandparents and cousin Allegra in Kensas City at the age of 16 after the death of her mother. Living with her cousin made her see things, horrible things she didn't believe that she'll be able to see oneway, but it will give her a closure to her mother's horrible life and treatment with her. She'll finally come to understand why her mother was so miserable.

Lane finds love with Cooper Sullivan who is 2 years older than her. A boy so messed up like her and comes from a horrible family just like her too. They relate and they became lovers, but will she be able to let him in her life?

Lane escapes from her Roanoke ... She leaves ... Hoping she'll never come back!

But she comes back after leaving that horrible place 10 years ago. She comes back after one call from her Grandad. She comes back after Allegra is gone missing. Something she never expected to happen, for Allegra loved the place, loved her life, loved her destiny with him, or that's what she made her believe.

Lane comes back to know what happened to Allegra. She comes back to the man she loved and ran away from before saying her goodies. Laney girls comes back to set everything straight, to have a closure and set herself free from everything and everyone that were keeping her locked in Roanoke.

I loved all of the characters, all of them had depth. Some were able to move on, some were stuck in where they were 10 years ago, and some believed in what they've done was right, as if it was their destiny to live like that. I loved Cooper Sullivan, he moved on to be a good man even though he was raised by a horrible father. Tommy tried to move on but couldn't, he loved Allegra knowing that she'll never be his, he couldn't admit it but he felt it. The grandparents were a piece of art. I will not talk about them for I want you to discover their characters. And Lane Roanoke's character was beautifully written, developed and sculptured. How she was so cruel to those she loved, how she couldn't express her love and couldn't let those feelings out, but can anyone blame her?

This book has a great story in its pages that everyone must read.

Book Review: Crown of Midnight-Sarah J Maas

Now, seriously. Can this series get any better? I'm in the second book and I'm sobbing, damn.

Sarah J Maas is the Queen of Fantasy, Queen of Magic, and Queen of Romance. All of these and more are in this series. I mean, you will not get bored at all, whether you like fantasy, romance, suspense, crime or whatever you are into, you'll find it this book/series.

The story follows the life of Celaena Serdothian after becoming The king's Champion and killing anyone who is believed to harm the throne or is a traitor. She has to kill every person she is asked to or else The Captain of Guard will be killed and then she'll follow, or maybe the opposite?! Anyways, it was a risk she wasn't willing to have! Was she? Read the story to find out what happens.

The love triangle was written in a very beautiful way, my heart ached for Chaol, aaaahhhh his character has changed drastically and he became more relaxed, easy and happy. You can feel it when he's with Celaena.

"I will always care. Gods help me, I know I shouldn't, but I do" Chaol.

But after what happened, the climax of the story where it broke my heart and shattered it to pieces. Celaena becomes really cruel to Chaol and treats him as if he is the enemy. She irritated me a lot, and I really hated her in this sequel for tormenting Chaol when he didn't deserve it. Damn you Celaena.

"He barely made it into an empty broom closet before the sobs hit"

The loss of a major character in this book was really sad, it made very upset but I guess it was needed because it changed so many things in the story that made it more interesting.

The reading pace for this book was really fast, I finished it in less than 24hrs. I wanted to slow down, to enjoy the story line but I just couldn't help myself.

The final page of the book ....... wwoooooooowww just wow! I was like "No Waaaaaaay". I don't want to ruin this book or the series to those who haven't read it yet but please please please, if you're into fantasy, magic and portals, then this book is definitely for you and you MUST read it!

Book Review: Throne of Glass-Sarah J Maas

This book was perfect in all aspects and elements of a great story. I don't know where was I from this series before. Why haven't I heard of it or known about it? Reading Throne of Glass was a great experience, loved the adventure it made me live with all the characters.

The story is about an assassin who has to fight for her freedom. To become The King's Champion she must join the games and and fight great thief, soldiers and assassin to win the title. But later, the other assassins start dying mysteriously. Scared for her life, Captain of The Guard will do anything to protect her and The Crown Prince will become her friend who will enjoy teasing her.

I loved how the story started and how it ended. The mystery behind Celeana's pain from the past and the marks on her back. Even though she became a great assassin, I felt there is more to her story, to why she became an assassin or how, which I suppose will know in the other books

"When one doesn't have access to a bath and perfume, I suppose one cannot smell as finely as you, your highness"

The way she talks makes you feel the strength and confidence in her character, even after what she has been through which we get to know a little bit about, not the whole thing but still. She is one of the great heroines out there and you cannot help but fall in love with her,

And I also loved her wittiness and how she always tried to provoke Chaol who was timid and tough. The conversation they had made me laugh. It's very easy for a book to make me cry or feel upset, but it's very difficult for a book to make me laugh, and when I laugh while reading a book, I know that this is a great book.

"Celaena didn't quite understand the softness in the look he gave her as he nodded".

The silent feelings that have been described through Chaol's looks towards Celaena made me ache for more, like a hug or something, maybe a kiss?! But I liked how the writer kept a distance between them. To me that is a clever-writing style, where the author keeps her reader wanting for more and not spilling everything in one page.

I can't wait to start reading the next book to know more and see what will happen after that shocking end.

Book Review: A Dragonfly in Amber-Diana Gabaldon

And I thought this series would take me forever to finish but guess what? I've read two books so far in one month and hoping to do the same in October but when I think about it, I want to slow down a bit because I don't want this book to finish.

In this book, we meet 2 new major characters: Roger and Brianna. I loved the role of Roger in this book and how he somehow knew what Claire went through or sensed something was off with her regarding the Jacobites soldiers. He also knew that Brianna was conceived in the past and somehow knew who her father was.

"Damn you. Jamie Fraser!" I said, furious. "What are you doing there anyway; it's miles from Culloden"

I don't know why Claire couldn't sense/feel/see that Jamie might have survived Culloden when she saw his grave that far away from the battle field. She should have had some doubts but she didn't.

And then we go back in time, Claire remembering what happened in France and the ghost of Black Jack following Jamie everywhere even in his dreams.

"You'll go to your death with your arse burning from my pleasure, and when you lose your bowels, it will be my spunk running down your legs and dripping on the ground below the gallows".

Damn that quote. My god, how awful is Jack RANDALL. I've never seen such a horrific villain in any book i've read in my whole life. The description of that scene when Jamie was having nightmares of Black Jack is just awful. Can't imagine someone going through that psychological pain.

Even Claire couldn't escape his horrific words and threats. When he wanted her help to fix his brother Alexander, he didn't request politely, Oh no. He came with harsh words and unbelievable description of what happened to Jamie in that prison cell.

"I have held the soul of his manhood, have taken from him what he has taken from me."

"We are linked, you and I, through the body of one him. Through him".

The characters of this series is beyond amazing. How Diana Gabaldon portrayed each one of them and developed them is beyond magnificent especially the character of Black Jack. Even when he's desperate, he's still evil and became more evil and harsh.

Can't wait to read book 3 "woohoo"

Book Review: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children-Ransom Riggs

Where was I from this book or this series?

I love creative books with a unique storytelling an plot. It's very rare to see a book that is well written, with a tidy plot and complex characters. Not that all the characters in this book are complex but some of them are. Even though the characters lacked depth and description which I think we might read about more in the next books but I hoped to see more of the characters in this book. They lacked description, passion, depth and warmth. That's why I gave this book 4 stars, I would have given it 5 stars if I felt the characters deserved it but maybe in book 2 or 3?

Knowing the snapshots/pictures that are in the book are real and they belong to the author's collection of weird photos gave me the creeps. There was one photo that really scared me and I felt I wouldn't be able to sleep if I kept on reading the book, so I shut it and went to sleep thinking about all of those photos and that's why it took me 2 days to finish it. If i was able to handle such photos at night, i'd have finished it in one sitting.

As I said earlier, the idea of this book is unique. Writing a story based on photos or somehow related to them. It makes you understand the story in a better way. Having peculiar children/people in a story might be difficult to comprehend or imagine but with the story, it becomes easier.

Jacob goes to an Island after the death of his grandfather that makes him puzzled and lost somehow for he saw something that others couldn't/didn't see or believe. He felt obliged to go out and seek the truth behind his grandfather's story and death. His journey leads him to loop where his grandfather used to live, where he meets the house of Miss Peregrine and her children who has been living in this loop for ....? Staying out of sight, safe, and away from those who want to harm them, but will they stay safe forever? With the help of Jacob, the peculiar children will fight for their lives and those they care about.

If you haven't read the story then go and buy the book before watching the movie. It's amazing <3

Book Review: The Wonder-Emma Donoghue

When you think that Emma Donoghue would never write something as good as Room. Well guess what? You were wrong. Wile reading this story I was thinking "This is good but not as good as Room" and when I reached the last few pages of this book .... She has done it again!

What would you do to save a child's life?

Elizabeth Wright, an English nurse is sent to Ireland to observe and investigate Anna O'Donnel, an 11 year child, who has been living on nothing but few sips of water for four months. She has been assigned by the Committee to observe and witness if this Child is a fraud or a miracle. But what she discovers is far from fraud or miracle.

I will not spoil the story for your for it's unique in its own way and I want you to read it and discover the hidden meaning in each sentence and word written in this book. but one can ask himself; "Are we fooled by religion or by people of religion or by people who think that religion will save their loved one by losing another?" The plot of this book is kind of complicated if you want to dig deep in each word written.

For example:

"Wiping away the stains. The sins she's committed with each part of her body." What could an 11 year old do or sin with her body? One can only imagine. And if she has done something then I'm sure it's not her fault. It could be another one's fault who is older, and mature, who knows right from wrong. But an 11 year old child is still young for sinning with her own body!

The shocking events of this book will leave you speechless and angry. I remember myself being very furious and angry at the mother Rosalyn for something she has said in the book. It frustrated me that I cursed Lib (The Nurse) for not slapping her on the face.

The writing style of this book is beyond amazing, Emma has the gift to make you live inside the story as if you're the main character. I can't imagine what Lib was going through seeing Anna wither infant of her and not being able to do anything. I hated the parents for they didn't care much for their child or maybe they thought she's in God hands and that he knows better. I can't believe that there are people out there who still think like that. I mean I know this is a fictional story but hey, such people do exist.

Such an amazing book. Well done Emma <3

Book Review: Jane Steele-Lyndsay Faye

I have to say this ... I became a huge fan of Lyndsay Faye's writing after reading the Timothy Wilde trilogy and she made me love Historical Fiction and can say that I'm addicted to this genre because of her.

Her style in writing, in building up the characters, narrating the story, the events and how the plots develops amazes me. You think you know how it will end but later you find yourself you are wrong for she is no ordinary writer that let you figure out things before the ending.

Jane Steele relates to Jane Eyre's novel somehow, however you want to see it or relate it it depends on the reader himself. Actually Jane Steele tells her story by addressing the reader every now and then. Whatever Jane does through the story, you can't but fall in love with her and her unique characters, even when she becomes a criminal killing people who are hurting the people she cares about the most.

She has been sent away from where she used to reside with her aunt to a boarding school where she commits a murder and escape with her school friend to London where her character changes dramatically due to the events she faces with her friend Rebecca Clarke.

Then she learns that the place where used to reside need a governess and applies for the job because her mother once told her that this place belonged to her but her aunt Patience took it from them. She becomes the governess of the residents that now belongs to Charles Thornfield and falls in love with him but he himself has a dark past of his own that we discover at the end.

I myself fell in love with Charles Thornfield with his wittiness and sweet language when addressing Jane, either when comforting her or teasing her, he's such a magnificent man.

A must read for sure <3

Book Review: Glass Sword-Victoria Aveyard

3.5 stars

This sequel was bit boring lacking meaningful events. I mean the whole book was spent looking for the new bloods and that was it. Until the end. I liked the twist in the book where they involved The Lakelanders and others from far places (Arabs maybe or Persian), that served the plot a bit.

I can say that I HATED Mare's character in this book, she was so annoying thinking herself invincible and always commanding people thinking she is right when later we find she is not. She was irritating. I loved Cal's character more and more in this book, I felt the development in his character and how killing his father has changed him ALOT. Also Farley, I loved her character and its development in this book, she was more clear and visible to the reader in this sequel and she played a great role in the plot. I still hate Kilorn, i don't know why but I can't stand him.

Now I felt kind of upset for killing Queen Elara this fast, we should have seen more of her and her twisted games, why kill her so fast without any involvement whatsoever in the book!

I really hope book 3 will be much much better than this one and that we'll get to have a good ending to this trilogy.

Book Review: Scarlet-Marissa Meyer

I can't believe how entertaining this series is, I mean it's very easy to read, fun to imagine and it gives you this lovely feeling. You can't help yourself, you suddenly find yourself smiling without even noticing it, it happens naturally when you are reading. Marisa Meyer has the most attractive and seductive language ever. There is nothing special about but it's easy for the eyes and mind to read, not like other books that make you struggle in every sentence you read and sometimes you find yourself staring at the same sentence for more than 5 minutes. That doesn't happen with Marissa Meyer.

The story of Scarlet follows the story of Cinder after being held prisoner for what she has done at the ball. Kai being a spoiled emperor (Can't like his character) doesn't believe in what she says, i don't blame him and I still don't blame Cinder for both didn't know what was going on .

Cinder being the lost Princess Selene from Luna, escapes the prison in search of Michelle Bonoit, the woman who saved her life wanting to know more about her ancestors and life. Cinder meets Scarlet Bonoit and Alfa Kesly (Wolf). I loved those pairs, especially Wolf's character, oh my my he was such a seductive character with his stiffness and attitude.

I hated that we didn't see any development in Kai's character. I was hoping to see more of him and what he'll be or do but that wasn't the case. This book focused more on Cinder, Scarlet and Wolf. Maybe in the 3rd book!

Books Review: Me Before you/After You-Jojo Moyes

Me Before You

If you're in the mood to be depressed and blue then this is the best book to get in that mood plus the current weather, you have a great setting to dive into your own world of misery and sadness. I've heard about this book, that it's sad and everything but I haven't imagined it would be THAT sad and totally depressing.

A caregiver falls in love with quadriplegic young man who was very fit and alive before he had a motorbike accident and had him on that wheelchair since then.

Will has no interest in going out and living his life because from his own point of view, he lost his life when he lost all movement in his body. There comes Lou, his new caregiver who tries her best to take care of him and makes his life as easy as possible but Will is determined to push Lou away from him just as he did with the other ones. To his surprise, Lou gets closer to him and he starts falling for her, until Will decides something that shatters Lou.

Great story, great writing, great characters. You can feel everything and everybody in this book. You somehow get to live the life of Lou and sometimes the life of Will and suffer from what they're suffering. At the end I cried but I also laughed. Loved the book.

After You

I've been waiting for this book for a very long time and couldn't believe it when I saw it on a bookstore shelf before its official worldwide release, I bought and started reading it. Now, I'm going to comment first on why people were so upset with this book? I really thought I was going to read an awfully written sequence but it was the opposite. And actually, you can't call it a sequence but more like a CLOSURE to Lou's life. This book gives a reasonable ending to Lou's life. To be honest, Lou wasn't going to have a REAL life with Will because of his disability, even if she loved him and remained loving him, he had to die in the first book so Lou can have a normal life. It was tragic yes, but very reasonable.

Moving on to After You. As I said this book is a closure to Lou's life after Will. We see her dealing with his loss in a very messy way, being scared of new feelings and dealing with Will's problems even after his death. Which I feel it was irrelevant to the story. Why give Will a daughter he didn't know about and make Lou deal with his and her mess?! That I couldn't understand and kind of didn't like.

I loved Sam's character all, I actually fell in love with him too (can't wait to see this book as a movie). Donna his partner is such an entertaining character. Lou herself is still witty and funny even though she can be a little frustrating with all her sadness and so but that's a normal thing.

I loved this book. It made me laugh, be angry, and happy at the end :)

Book Review: Cinder-Merissa Meyer

There so many writers out there writing good books. There are so many writers out there writing great books. But there are few writers out there writing great book with amazing ideas and a beautiful writing style. Those writers are really rare. I always wonder how their brain function, from where do they get their ideas and how they put them in a beautifully written book!

This was the easiest book I've read in 2016 and I finished it in less than 12hrs. I've never done that before and now I can't help myself but reach out for book 2 and start reading it. I know I should give my mind and eyes some time to rest but I don't think I'll be able to. I'm starting Scarlet after I finish writing this review.

"You're even more painful to look at than she is" Oh really Kai? That was the harshest sentence in the whole book. I couldn't believe my eyes when I've read it. I mean how could he say THAT to her, after all she's done to save him from that lunatic Lunar Queen Levana .... *angryface*

Basically, it's the retelling story of Cinderella but in a very different way. Cinder is an adopted Cyborg who has been brought to this family to take care of her. After the father dies, her stepmother keeps her in the house but without any love or affection towards her. She has 2 step sisters Peony and Pearl. Pearl is awful but Peony is nice.

Cinder is the best mechanic in New Beijing who fixes anything. One day Prince Kai comes to her to help him with his android and she does. Not knowing that this android device has the story of her life. This android has the secret that has been hidden from her all of her life.

The characters were all great. Hated Pearl and Queen Levana from the bottom of my heart, I could feel anger and frustration growing inside me as I turn the pages of this book. I loved Peony and felt really sad for what happened to her. Loved Cinder, her character was good. But Kai's character was a bit annoying and lacked some depth, maybe in book 2 we'll get more of him and his character.

Read this series, don't miss it.

Book Review: I See You-Clare Mackintosh

Imagine someone follows women everyday, create a website and write a log of where they go everyday. Which train these and which station they arrive to, what clothes they are wearing and a brief description of them. Imagine having your picture posted on a website for men to meet women without you knowing about it all. Imagine men following you after you finish your work thinking you want them when actually you don't. What happens then?

That's basically the creepiest description I've ever written for a book I've finished reading. The idea of the book was really creepy, I mean from where does Clare Mackintosh get her ideas and twists? This book isn't as great as I Let You Go, but it's good. The plot, the twists and that final page was like "No Way". Will there be a sequel for this book? Or will we be left to end this book with our own imagination. Either way, I'm totally satisfied.

I have to admit that i felt bored till half the book, but i persuaded myself to continue reading because this is written by Mackintosh and if you've read her first book then you'll know what I mean. After that the story started to get creepier page after page and when you think you know who is doing all of this, guess what? YOU ARE WRONG. It's how Mackintosh writes, she makes you think that you've got the psycho who is causing all the troubles in her stories but actually you are not ;) She's so clever and I love how talented she is.

Though in this book I felt detached from the main characters, I couldn't find my way to Zoe Walkers character or her life. I don't know why. But anyways, this was a great read.

Book Review: The Coincidence of Coconut Cake- Amy E. Reichert

I can't describe my feelings for this book in words because words won't do this book justice. It's just amazing, beautiful, dreamy, delicious, yummy, heavenly, beyond amazing, mouth watering etc. You name it. As if you're having a delicious meal and reading a book at the same time.

I've never read Culinary Romance before, and I'm new to this genre but all I can say is that I'm hooked and will be addicted to this genre very soon and to the writer of this book Amy Reichert.

The story itself is simple and fun to read, nothing out of the ordinary but how it's written and shaped makes it really interesting and beautiful. You can see through out the novel how the two main characters Lou and Al's persona change and develop becoming better persons because of positivity and love. How someone is willing to change his bad attitude for the person he/she loves. How we become blind for people who don't really deserve us. And finally, how food has a great affect on our life.

I can't wait for her next book which is coming out this July and I'm already searching for other Culinary Romance books <3

Book Review: How To Find Love in a Bookshop-Veronica Henry

I can't decide whether to give this book 3 stars or 4 so I'm settling on 3.5 stars.

The idea of this book is amazing but it lacked the depth of characters and their development through out the story. I felt this book was done very fast without getting deep into the story itself. The feeling you get is not that strong because you couldn't have formed an idea/feeling or get attached to the characters.

I've always loved the idea of having or managing my own bookshop so you can see my face when I saw this book in Waterstones. I couldn't help myself but get it. Emilia is struggling to get Nightingale Books going after the death of her father. She does her best to keep it going knowing that it had a great impact on its customers and found out some secrets trying to keep the bookshop going.

The book had many characters but focused only on few. The only characters that I liked were Dillon and Alice. So many characters were left behind like Thomasina & Jem. Also Jackson & Mia, not to mention June & Mick. I wish the writer had given more time and effort for the left out characters.

The writing was ok, not that wow but easy for the eye and mind.

Book Review: Outlander-Dianah Gabaldon

"Looking at this wanton damage I could not avoid a mental picture of the process that had caused it. I tried not to imagine the muscular arms raised, spread-eagled and tied, ropes cutting into wrists, the coppery head pressed hard agains the post in agony, but the marks brought such images all too readily to mind. Had he screamed when it was done?"

"I could no more stop myself rising to his touch than I could stop myself bleeding when he cut me"

"I lie here feeling that I will die without your touch, but when you touch me I feel as though I will vomit with shame and loathing of myself"

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. I mean where where these books hiding? This is just book one and I'm emotionally wrecked :/ I can't think of a book more vivid and clear to the eyes and mind than this one. I started with some of my favourite quotes/parts of the book, to show you the writing, the words used to describe such awful and outrageous scenes/events.

A writer has his/her words only to make the reader see what is inside their head, to see what he/she wants us to see and to feel exactly what he/she wants us to feel. If they use the write words then they're talented and I have to say that Diana Gabaldon is more than talented in using words, playing with them and creating such images in the reader's mind.

I seriously can't tell you how I felt at the end of the book, I was enjoying reading ti with all the fighting scenes between Claire and Jamie but when I reached the last part "To Ransom A Man's Soul", I felt my hands shaking because what I was reading was horrible, what Jamie went through all his life and at the end on the hands of Black Jack Randall was more than anyone can imagine. I wonder how this will shape his character in Book 2 which I'm going to start reading soon, hopefully.

I loved the dialogues between the characters, it showed you their personality and how then it became more mature or reckless. From the dialogues you feel the development of the characters, especially Jamie's. Also Claire, how she fell in love with Jamie and refused to go back to her husband, her first true love because she felt something else with Jamie and couldn't let go of that feeling, couldn't leave him and live with the feeling being away from him.

Of course I have to praise the historical facts used this book, it was full of history, what was happening between England and Scotland and what would happen later. I learned to so many facts, words, rituals and more from this book and that's why I'm becoming to appreciate huge books because they hold a lot of knowledge and information. I used to get intimidated by huge books, but not anymore. I'm enjoying them.

If you haven't started yet with this series, then I advise you to start reading it now. But I have to warn you that it has sexual scenes, rape, language, violence and more. So read it at your own risk.
